14. Picture Perfect

Oceanus, this one’s for you. I caught all your ‘subtle’ hints

Please read Astaghfirullah 3 X before continuing.

I woke up the next morning with a new vigour. I was determined to fight back. I was a proper UK citizen and I’m sure I had rights. Now just to put my plan into action..

I greeted Apa Aaisha cheerfully and waited until we finished breakfast to make my request. By then she was already eyeing me strangely, probably even more so because I’d even helped with the dishes.

Seizing the moment I asked, “Can I go home now?” The answer was quick and short, “No!” “But I want to go home,” I demanded. “You clearly are not capable of looking after yourself and your father works long hours so… No!”

“You have to take me home. I refuse to stay. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to keep me here against my will.”

“I said no, so you’re just going to have to deal with it. Anyway I doubt the state will be against what we are doing.” “Either you let me go home or take me to the police station and we’ll see what the law has to say,” I demanded. As I watched Apa Aaisha’s brow crinkle, I smiled victoriously. She had to let me go now.

I groaned internally when she spoke, “C”mon then, might as well get this done and over with. Meet me in the car in ten minutes.”

I blinked, she was seriously going to go with me to the police station? Determined not to look uncertain, I marched to the room and dressed in record speed before going to wait in her car.

She came and started the ignition. I hid my growing trepidation. Okay, I was starting to get a little worried. Was she really going through with this? Could I even really go through with this. Uncertainty rose higher and higher as we got closer to the police station. The sensible side of me was screaming out to me to tell her it’s fine and to go back but my pride wouldn’t allow it.

I’d look extremely stupid and weak if I just backed down now. We reached the police station and Apa Aaisha, as if sensing my hesitation, asked, “You sure you still want to go through with this?” NO! I’m not! But somehow, I found my voice saying, with false bravado, “Of course.”

‘Fiddlesticks and donkey poo! What on earth have I gotten myself into?’ I wondered, wiping my clammy palms onto my jeans. I swallowed hard as we walked towards the police station, my mouth was gone absolutely dry. Each step we took felt like a lifetime.

The thing is, Apa Aaisha was so unruffled, which was just freaking me out even more. I was so freaked out about what was going to happen that it wasn’t funny. I was hyper-aware yet my mind seemed to have shut down. But I just couldn’t bring myself to back down. Stupid pride and its stupid consequences.

  • -A man once came to al-Hasan al- Basri and complained to him:
“The sky does not shower us with rain.” He replied: “Seek Allah’s
forgiveness (i.e. say ﺃﺳﺘﻐﻔﺮ ﺃﻟﻠﻪ).” Then another person came to him
and said, “I complain of poverty.”He replied: “Seek Allah’s forgiveness.”
Then another person came to him and complained, “My wife is
barren; she cannot bear children.” He replied: “Seek Allah’s forgiveness.”
The people who were present, said to al-Hasan: “Everytime a
person came to you complaining, you instructed them to seek
    Allah’s forgiveness?” Al-Hasan al-Basri said, “Have you
not read the statement of Allah? “Ask forgiveness of your
Lord. Truly He is Oft-Forgiving. He will send rain to you in
abundance; increase you in wealth and children; grant you
gardens and bestow on you rivers.”‘” [Nuh (71):10-12]
There are two things in the earth that give a person safety and
security from the punishment of Allah. The first has been removed,
whilst the second still remains. As for the first, it was the Messenger
of Allah (ﺻﻠﻲ ﺃﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭ ﺳﻠﻢ).
“Allah would not punish them while you were among them.” [al-Anfal (8):33]
As for the second, it is istighfar.
“Allah would not punish them as long as they sought forgiveness.” [al-Anfal(8):33]
    Do not ever leave istighfar!

Okay, I’m trying something new, y’all can tell me whether y’all prefer it or not. Shorter posts more often as opposed to long posts. I’m not sure what you guys prefer so make sure to leave your feedback. Please don’t say long post often, I dont think I’m capable of that…

  1. I absolutely think you are capable of long posts often…..but anyway…… Maybe shorter posts more often….less suspense in the sense that there won’t be much time between each posts…….and of course the final choice is yours❤
